Elementary electives being offered this fall/early winter 2017:
Unseen: The Armor of God for Kids & Parents
1st-5th grade & Parent/Guardian | September 20-November 8
Based on Priscilla Shirer’s study The Armor of God, this class will help you teach your kids how to equip themselves with the Armor of God to fight life’s battles. Kids will come with a parent or guardian and participate in various activities as they learn about how each piece of armor can help them be on guard against the enemy.
13 Very Cool Stories and Why Jesus Told Them
1st-5th grade | September 20-December 13
This class will explore 13 parables from the Bible and begin to understand why Jesus told them. Kids will meet a lost and found son, a rich fool, disgruntled vineyard workers, a pretty good Samaritan, and many more memorable characters. Along the way kids will discover the eternal truths Jesus wrapped in those stories!
We will also be offering our Adventure Land class for 4 yr.olds-Kindergarten and childcare (Birth-3 yr olds) for kids of parents attending adult electives.
Middle School students have the opportunity to serve in many areas (especially kid's ministry) and can contact Bruce at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
IMMERSE Small Group | 6:30 pm
IMMERSE is a small group designed for High School students that want to dig deeper into the topics being taught during Wayzata's Sunday morning worship service. We want to come alongside High School students to help them engage in the adult service as they become adults themselves. This small group will also have an opportunity for creative components we incorporate throughout the year. Contact Bekah at email@example.com for more information.
Youth Worship Team
Fall kick-off is just around the corner and we are looking for students who are interested in being involved with the Youth Worship Team this upcoming school year! We're looking for musicians, students for our Tech Team or creative minds that would like to help with the worship planning. Worship rehearsals will be on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm. Whether you have been involved in the past or are interested in joining the team for the first time, please contact Shannon Bry at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know what you are interested in!
+Cover-To-Cover Bible Survey | Fellowship Hall
This fall, Village Schools of the Bible’s teacher, Warren Coe, will complete the final eleven weeks of an immersive journey through God’s Word with participants who started this course last year. If you would like to sit in on a session to learn more about how the class is structured and taught, please join us! Another 32-week Cover-to- Cover Bible Survey is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2018 at Wayzata Free.
+Small Group Sermon Discussions | Upper lobby
Not simply a review of the sermon, these small groups will work from the Biblical text used in the weekend message and leverage some of the sermon’s main points. When we know we will be talking about how to apply the sermon, we listen differently and develop a habit of taking the Bible’s action points seriously. Sermon-based small groups contribute to unity, create a venue for questions, build authentic community and even sharpen the preaching.
begins November 8
Do you want to show up in your relationships, your work, your faith and your life more authentically? Do you want to share more of who God created you to be with those around you? Is the crazy schedule making it hard to care for yourself and connect with the Lord? If you answered YES to any of these questions, this 5-week series just might be what your soul is craving. This series will empower you to say YES to what is life-giving and NO to the things that are not. Using the Daring Way™ curriculum, developed by best-selling author and researcher Dr. Brené Brown, we will laugh, learn, and grow together as we practice being wholehearted and begin to understand the powerful relationship between vulnerability and courage, the importance of our core values, and how empathy and self-compassion are expressions of the Second Greatest Commandment. Our sessions will be wrapped in prayer, Scripture, and faith connections. Rev. Sarah Ciavarri, Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator-Consultant and Bob Strommen will lead.
